Prepare The Way
Principles and Practices for Planned
Giving
Rabbi Ted Simon, CPGA
|
In this book, I give biblical examples of planned gifts
and offer a few suggestions for giving beyond what you ever
dreamed or imagined. In the last chapter I will also explain
the “tools of the trade” to get there, such as wills, revocable
living trusts, memorandum of gifts, and charitable trusts.
The concept of planned giving has historical and biblical roots.
It comes from anticipating present and future financial needs
and creating ways to meet those needs, whether the needs are
in a family or in a ministry. Great heroes of the faith, like
Moses and King David, used planned gifts for great building
projects, with the help of the people. Paul used the concept
to receive a large offering for the struggling church in Jerusalem.
